CSV room schedule → 2D concept plan
Excel to Floor Plan Converter
Turn a room list from Excel into a measurable 2D floor plan without typing every room again. Save the sheet as CSV, map your columns, confirm the units, and export an area-accurate concept layout.

Step 1 · Import
Paste or upload a CSV
Your CSV stays in this browser. It is never uploaded to our server.
Your concept plan appears here after the CSV is mapped.
A drawing, not a mystery image
Map room names and target areas. The deterministic engine will partition a real footprint with no gaps or overlaps.
What it promises
Area-accurate planning, with honest boundaries
This Excel to floor plan workflow is designed for early space planning. The engine partitions one floor into non-overlapping rectangles, keeps the room-program total visible, and reports the difference between every input target and generated area.
Keeps
Room names, quantities, target areas, units, floor labels, and confirmed room types.
Checks
Missing values, invalid quantities, unknown units, total area, overlap, and drawing-grid drift.
Exports
PNG for sharing, SVG for editing, and DXF for a downstream CAD workflow.
Does not claim
Fixed width × length, adjacency, multi-floor stacking, 3D, BIM, or construction readiness.
How it works
Convert Excel to a floor plan in four checks
- 1
Export a CSV
In Excel, keep one header row and save the room schedule as CSV UTF-8. The original workbook stays unchanged.
- 2
Map the columns
Choose which columns contain room name and target area. Quantity, unit, floor, and room type are optional.
- 3
Confirm room types
The converter suggests a type from each room name. Confirm unknown spaces so the drawing uses the right visual treatment.
- 4
Review and export
Compare input and generated areas, then download PNG, SVG, or DXF. Each floor is drawn separately.
CSV format
Only room name and target area are required. Headers can use different names because you map them after import.
Room Name,Quantity,Target Area,Unit,Floor
Living Room,1,320,sq ft,Main
Bedroom,2,140,sq ft,Main
Office,1,12.5,m²,UpperUnits: sq ft, ft², sqft, m², sqm, or m2.
Quantities: whole numbers from 1 to 20 per row.
Floors: any short label; choose one floor to draw at a time.
Questions
Excel to floor plan FAQ
Can I upload an .xlsx Excel workbook?
Not in this first version. Save or export the room schedule as a comma-separated CSV file, then upload it here. This keeps the import lightweight and fully browser-local.
Does the converter preserve each room width and length?
It preserves target area, room names, quantities, room types, and floor labels. The generated rectangle dimensions can change because this is an area-based concept layout, not a fixed-dimension packing or adjacency solver.
Is my spreadsheet uploaded to a server?
No. CSV parsing, column mapping, validation, layout, and export run in your browser. The original room schedule is not sent to our server.
What can I export?
You can export a PNG image, an SVG vector drawing, or a DXF engineering drawing. The output is for early planning and visualization, not stamped construction documents.
Two ways to start
Import a schedule or design room-by-room.
Use the CSV converter for an existing room program. Use the original floor plan generator when you want simple bed, bath, and style controls.
